The Trades Workhub has established real world connections through industry work experience, apprenticeships, cadetships and project work. This enables our students/ apprentices to work alongside qualified and experienced tradespeople to learn and support routine business operations. Employers often seek our graduates to join their companies.

Matthew Choi is the head chef at the Goan Korean BBQ House Palmerston North.

UCOL’s Panel and Paint students have had a partnership with Robertson Holden International Speedway for four years.

Building houses

Each year UCOL’s carpentry and joinery students have the opportunity to build a house as part of their studies.

Each year UCOL’s second year fine furniture students have the opportunity to enter their creations into National Woodskills Competition in Kawerau.
