Yorb Intern, Jackie Roberts

Yorb is a local computer support and service company. Jackie has spent 400 hours as an intern at Yorb, as part of the 3rd year Bachelor of Information & Communications Technology. This involved working three days a week for 16 weeks, across different areas of the business.

“I spent six weeks in their Support Centre answering phone calls, which helped me navigate my way around the company and learn all the basic skills,” says Jackie.

“I then moved to the more hands-on side, going to jobs while working in Technical Services. I then did time with the Software Services team, where I was able to use my skill set to create software, build websites, and manage clients.”

Jackie really enjoyed the time at Yorb and has been able to put the knowledge and skills gained at UCOL into the real work world.

“I felt well supported at Yorb. It was great to further my learning and grow out of my shell. The staff are so nice and it’s a friendly environment to be in. It has helped put all my learning into context and it has been great to help them in return.”

Paula Hibbs, Yorb’s HR Coordinator says they’ve enjoyed having Jackie with them. “We have found Jackie to be very valuable to our work team. Jackie has a great attitude and so much enthusiasm. It’s hard to find people with such dedication and passion.”
